She has three beautiful Flatcoated Retrievers, and occasionally breeds a litter of them as a Kennel Club Assured Breeder. We caught up with Jacqui to find out a little bit more about her business and her love for all things canine and feline!
Tell us a little about QQ?
Quintessential Quarters opened in 2005 and soon gained an enviable reputation for the standard of care. The facilities are built to a very high standard and the business is a small exclusive boarding kennels that specialises in individual care for each individual pet. We are proud to have been shortlisted in 2017 for Best Kennel & Cattery of the Year Awards by the Pet Industry Federation, and again in 2018 for Best Kennel of the Year. We are just 10 minutes drive from the M6 motorway and are set within beautifully landscaped gardens with stunning woodland walks for the dogs to enjoy.
What is your favourite ginger animal?
I know we shouldn’t have favourites and I do love all of the animals we see coming in to stay with us but I do love a big ginger Tom cat and there is one that has been coming into QQ for years now called Oliver. He is the most friendly gorgeous boy ever. We find that most ginger cats do have kind temperaments.
We also had a lovely cocker spaniel called Ralph who stayed with us for a while and although his official colour as listed by the Kennel Club is “red” , he is a proper Ginger Ninja and we all love him!
Do pets with red hair need any special treatments for their coats/fur?
No they don’t need any special shampoos or anything but all dogs will need some form of grooming, especially long haired dogs. For any grooming advice we would encourage dog owners to get in touch and our professional dog stylists will help.
What are you looking for in the winning pet?
We are looking for a ginger dog and cat who catches our eye and stands out from the rest. Our Team Leader here, called Olivia has ginger hair and we will be looking for a pet to match her colouring the best! A photograph showing the whole of your pet should be either emailed or uploaded in Instagram #gingerpets19. We will upload all entries to Instagram so that they can be seen.
Are there any special services you offer for pets?
We tailor our care to suit every individual pet here taking into account their age and medical needs. So for puppies we offer extra playtime and less walking as their bones are growing. We offer a free puppy grooming consultation. Cuddles come as standard!
For older dogs, we offer comfy bedding and raised hammock beds to ease pressure on their joints. We can administer prescribed medication as an extra service. We tailor exercise to meet their needs.
We can administer insulin as an extra service in required.
We get a lot of these! Dogs with stacks of energy who are bouncy and very energetic are very welcome. With walk time and play time we will soon wear them out and they will settle down at night. For those with boundless energy we offer an exercise treadmill session too.
Nervous cats and dogs
We have many dogs who are not very confident and some from rescue backgrounds too. We offer aromatherapy for these pets to help calm them.
Dogs with Separation Anxiety
We have customers who worry about leaving their dog for the first time because they have separation anxiety ( the dog and the owner usually). We have natural remedies to help dogs settle in their kennels, in addition to a very caring team of professionals who have the skills and knowledge to handle pets with these issues.
