Billington’s Gingerbread Baking Contest is launched

We just LOVE gingerbread, and being located in the home of gingerbread, we hope to find some super talented gingerbread bakers at this year’s Billington’s Gingerbread Baking contest.

Taking place as a satellite event of the first annual Ginger and Spice Festival in Market Drayton, this contest has been very kindly sponsored by Billington’s Gingerbread and also Image on Food, local gingerbread baking and manufacturing companies in Market Drayton.

Ginger Passion

So, are you a budding baker with a passion for all things ginger? If so, enter our gingerbread baking contest being judged by two of the best local artisan bakers, Mr Tim Hopcroft of Image on Food and currently Billington’s Gingerbread , and Mr Terry McCarthy, the previous Billington’s Gingerbread Baker.

The judging will take place on Saturday 30^th September 2017 at the Festival Drayton Centre at 11.30am, and will include both an over 18s’ category and a children’s category.

Rules and Recipes

Over 18s’ entrants are being asked to bake and put together, a handmade gingerbread house, open to their own interpretation.

The children are asked to produce a decorated gingerbread man or novelty biscuit.

Both categories are sponsored and winners plus runners-up will be awarded the following fantastic prizes:-

Over 18s’ category:-

Winner of the Over 18 s’ category – The Annual Gingerbread Trophy sponsored by Billington’s Gingerbread, a Gingerbread Hamper including Tanner’s Port and other Gingerbread goodies.

Runner up of Over 18s’ Category – A pack of Billington’s Gingerbread.

Children’s Category:-

Winner of Best Children’s Gingerbread Man – The annual Gingerbread Trophy sponsored by Image on Food, a Gingerbread hamper for children, family meal at the Gingerbread Man Pub in Market Drayton, plus a book Hansel and Gretel written by the Brother’s Grimm.
Runner up of Best Children’s Gingerbread Man – a hand iced gingerbread novelty from Image on Food plus a book – Hansel and Gretel by the Bothers Grimm.
